My name is Hayla. I decided that I wanted to start a roller derby league and since I am new to Tacoma and have run into relatively few cool people (though I know they are out there) I thought I would try to recruit people from both Pierce and Thurston counties. The first thing I did was to contact Dixie Dragstrip of RCRG to find out if she knew of anything going on down here. She didn't, so off I went. I posted an ad on Craigslist, told my jock brother and forced a friend to go skating with me. Within a few days there were 7 girls interested so we started to meet at the Skate-n-Station. Since that first meeting-2 weeks ago- they all have backed down, with the possible exception of one of my friends. In the meantime I went down to Oly-where I am from and found out about the Oly Rollers through a friend. I know many of the crew that the organizer of that league hangs out with. But they informed me that they are committed to staying based in oly and I am not interested in that. So I made a last ditch effort and put another ad in Craigslist where I seem to have found a number of you guys. Also possibly a new person.
I am not a good skater, or, more truthfully, a pretty bad skater, so I am taking lessons at the Skate-n-Station on Saturdays at 10am. Wanna meet?

hay hay! i'm super interested in joining your league but i live in seattle. am i still eligible? i'm totally willing to commute down. just fyi, a lot of girls up here in seattle want to be roller girls but can't get into RCRG (over 60 at the last tryouts for about 15 slots). it means enough to me that i'd commute down for your practices/meetings, maybe there are other seattle girls that feel the same way???
